Vintage Moroccan Tuareg Carpet TG07

Woven by the nomadic Tuareg tribes of Mauritania with palm reed and camel leather, Tuareg mats offer an alternative to a traditional woven textile floor coverings. This example features vertical bands of intricate motifs, with lozenges, meandering chains and zig-zag forms creating a strong composition. Moments of vertical bars allow the reed structure to peek through the mat. Some faint colors (red and olive) are present in the leather along with natural brown tones, creating moments of contrast.
