Vintage Moroccan Guigou Carpet GG01

Currently one of our oldest, this antique Moroccan Guigou carpet is a true masterpiece with colors achieved through natural dyes from madder, cochineal, saffron, and pomegranate. The deep rust red, burgundy and ochre wool has a rich patina from natural fading over time. The chevron pattern is a dark teal and contains intricate diamonds within, emphasizing the carpet's feminine symbolism. 100% wool.

Guigou

This Middle Atlas Berber tribe produces a rustic variety of carpets using natural dyes. Some show signs of an oriental influence, perhaps due to the weavers viewing examples traded at Souks from nearby urban centers, where carpets from the eastern islamic regions are more heavily used. The blending of the Berber tradition and oriental color stories creates a beautiful combination.
