Vertical and horizontal bands of dotted and dashed male bar motifs float across an abrashed red ground, rendering a pixelated effect to this unusual vintage Boujad. Knotted in a palette of bright red, rose, grass green, yellow, charcoal, and ivory. Finished with bold charcoal selvedges and a flat weave band at one end. 100% wool.

An Arab urban center with both Arab and Arabized Berber tribes in the Haouz plains region east of Marrakech (between the Middle Atlas and Atlantic Ocean) named after the town of Boujad, which has an important carpet souk. Carpets from this region have similarities to those from the Middle Atlas, utilizing Berber motifs and similar structures, but tend to take on a more individualistic creative approach. Motifs are often distorted, and vast colors reflect an urban influence. These carpets can vary from an abstract side of weaving art to more precise symmetrical messages. Boujad carpets were not made for bedding but rather for use on the floor.
