Vintage Moroccan Beni Sadden Carpet BS12

This vintage Beni Sadden features a more intricate approach to weavings from this tribe. The overall symmetrical lozenge network is filled with and surrounded by numerous Berber symbols including eight pointed stars, arrow forms, crosses, and X motifs. Stepped lozenge borders frame the composition. Woven in a faded brown and charcoal on an ivory ground. 100% wool with some pile loss and wear, consistent for a carpet of this age.

Beni Sadden

The Beni Sadden resides to the west of the Beni Ouarain confederacy. The carpets of this tribe can be influenced by their Middle Atlas Berber Berber neighbors to the east and sometimes the Beni M'Guild in the south.
