Vintage Moroccan Beni Sadden Carpet BS07

A classic example, this vintage Moroccan Beni Sadden displays a more traditional approach to carpets from this tribe. The symmetrical network of lozenges at the top are comprised of chain forms filled with Berber symbolism. The central vertical band filled with branch and chain motifs divides the piece visually into two segments. Woven in a faded charcoal on an ivory ground. 100% wool with some pile loss and wear, consistent for a carpet of this age.

Beni Sadden

The Beni Sadden resides to the west of the Beni Ouarain confederacy. The carpets of this tribe can be influenced by their Middle Atlas Berber Berber neighbors to the east and sometimes the Beni M'Guild in the south.
