Vintage Moroccan Beni Alaham Carpet BA14

A minimal style Beni Alaham with low pile woven in a combination of dark brown and faded charcoal wool on an warm ivory ground. The large central lozenge motif is comprised of banded square forms, bordered with vertical chains of double triangles and diamonds forming symbols of protection. Some pile loss and subsequent repairs at the center from decades of use. 100% wool.

The Beni Alaham are a small sub tribe of the Beni Ouarain confederacy. Residing in the Middle Atlas range south east of Ahermoumou, the carpets of this tribe can be influenced by their Middle Atlas Berber Berber neighbors and tend to be on the more minimal side in regards to motif structures.
