Vintage Moroccan Beni Alaham Carpet BA16

A minimalist style Beni Alaham vintage Moroccan carpet with a low pile, is woven in a combination of dark brown and mocha brown wool on an ivory ground. The large central lozenge motifs are comprised of banded square forms, bordered with vertical chains of double triangles, forming symbols of protection. Some pile loss and subsequent minor repairs are present from decades of use. 100% wool.

The Beni Alaham are a small sub tribe of the Beni Ouarain confederacy. Residing in the Middle Atlas range south east of Ahermoumou, the carpets of this tribe can be influenced by their Middle Atlas Berber Berber neighbors and tend to be on the more minimal side in regards to motif structures.
