Vintage Moroccan Beni Alaham Carpet BA16

A minimalist vintage Beni Alaham featuring coupled large scale lozenge motifs comprised of banded square forms. Vertical chains of double triangles hold the composition, forming symbols of protection. Woven in a mixture of deep neutral browns on an ivory ground. All wool with some pile loss throughout and a few minor repairs lend patina and character to the piece. 100% wool.

Beni Alaham

The Beni Alaham are a small sub tribe of the Beni Ouarain confederacy. Residing in the Middle Atlas range south east of Ahermoumou, the carpets of this tribe can be influenced by their Middle Atlas Berber Berber neighbors and tend to be on the more minimal side in regards to motif structures.
