Vintage Moroccan Zaïane Carpet ZA02

With a diffused lower pile lozenge pattern revealed through a higher pile field, this vintage Moroccan Zaïane is subtle in its approach, yet has a distinct personality. An unusual colorful palette of abrashed plum, magenta, a striking saffron yellow, and deep teal are knotted in 100% wool. Finished with a flat weave band on one end.

Zaïane

This tribe settled in the southern area of the Middle Atlas Mountains. Their textiles are thinner than the northen Berber rugs due to the warmer climate. Red is generally the predominant color for these carpets, possibly due to the proximity of trade routes where these dyes were more readily available.
