Vintage Moroccan Tuareg Carpet TG01

Woven by the nomadic Tuareg tribes of Mauritania with palm reed and camel leather, these mats offer an alternative to a traditional woven textile floor coverings. This example features an unusually intricate composition of mostly leather, with lozenges and intricate chains and zig-zag forms creating a strong visual message. Moments of vertical bars allow the reed structure to peek through the mat, creating moments of contrast.
