Woven by the nomadic Tuareg tribes of Mauritania with palm reed and camel leather, these mats offer an alternative to a traditional woven textile floor coverings. This smaller example, most likely used as a prayer mat, features an symmetrical composition of cross motifs and vertical bars. Excellent condition for its age.
