Vintage Moroccan Beni Alaham Carpet BA06

This unusual Beni Alaham exhibits three vertical lozenge chains connected with triangle forms, flanked by black borders along both selvedges. The motifs become diffuse near the bottom, ending in a fine flat weave with black and ivory bands. A minimal piece with a strong graphic quality. Knotted in faded black wool on an ivory ground, 100% wool.

The Beni Alaham are a small sub tribe of the Beni Ouarain confederacy. Residing in the Middle Atlas range south east of Ahermoumou, the carpets of this tribe can be influenced by their Middle Atlas Berber Berber neighbors and tend to be on the more minimal side in regards to motif structures.
